What is Opera Link?
Opera Link is a feature that enables you to share data between browsers.
Do I need to use Opera to use Opera Link?
Yes, you need to use at least one Opera browser to use Opera Link. At the moment, only beta versions of Opera for desktop and Opera Mini fully support Opera Link. However you can access your bookmarks from any other browser through the Opera Link Web user interface by going to http://link.opera.com and logging in with your Opera username and password.
Can I use other browsers to access my bookmarks?
Yes, you can log into a web-based user interface using Opera browsers, including Opera for Mac/PC, Opera Mobile or Opera Mini. You can also access your bookmarks using other Web browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari.
What do you mean by synchronizing?
Opera Link is not a backup of your bookmarks. When you add or delete a bookmark in one of your browsers, this bookmark will be added or deleted in the other browsers as well.
I suddenly got two of each bookmark. How can I fix it, and why does this happen?
Probably you have multiple installations of Opera on the same system. You get duplicate bookmarks because the existing bookmarks from the two browsers are merged.
To prevent this situation, remove your existing bookmarks before logging in with the second browser (remember to make a backup first). Alternatively, delete the duplicate bookmarks. An easy way to do this is to go to "Bookmarks" > "Manage Bookmarks". Click on "View" > "Sort by name".
I just added a bookmark on my PC, but it doesn't show up in Opera Mini. Why not?
Opera does not instantly synchronize your bookmarks when you modify them. It may take some time before the changes in one browser are synchronized to the server. When you exit Opera, all changes will automatically be synchronized.
I don't remember my Opera account password
If you don't remember your password, you can go to this page to request that a new password be sent to you.
I accidentally lost some bookmarks. Can I go back to my old bookmark collection?
Lucky for you, Opera creates a backup of your bookmark file the first time you synchronize. This backup bookmark file is called "opera6.adr.pre_sync". Rename this file to a new .adr file name and follow these instructions to choose this file as your bookmark file.
How can I choose what to synchronize with Opera Link?
For Opera on your computer:
If you are not logged in, please skip to step 2.
- "File" > "Stop synchronizing Opera"
- "File" > "Synchronize Opera..." > "Options"
- Choose what browser data you want to synchronize
For Opera Mini:
If you are already logged in, please skip to Step 2.
- On the start page, click "Sign out"
- On the start page, click "Synchronize Opera..."
- Choose what browser data you want to synchronize
Why don't I see all my bookmarks in Opera Mini?
All bookmarks from your personal computer are stored in the "More Bookmarks" folder in the bookmarks section.
Where is Speed Dial displayed in Opera Mini?
If you choose to synchronize your Speed Dial with Opera Mini, it will be shown on the start page.
Why can't I synchronize other browser settings?
You cannot synchronize browser settings other than bookmarks, Speed Dial and the personal bar with Opera Link right now. However, you will be able to synchronize more settings in future versions of Opera.
What is the difference between the My Opera login and the Opera login?
None. Both logins are identical.
How does Opera Link protect my privacy?
Opera does not share its users' private information. Opera generates statistics about the usage of Opera Link, but these are aggregated numbers so no information can be associated with an individual user. Opera's Privacy Statement.
